Schaeffler congratulates Porsche on a world championship winning season

This can’t be topped: On clinching its sixth victory in succession, Schaeffler’s partner Porsche secured the drivers’ title in the FIA World Endurance Championship in Bahrain as well. After winning the manufacturers’ championship in the penultimate round at Shanghai, Timo Bernhard, Brendon Hartley and Mark Webber now clinched the second WEC title for Porsche in the top LMP1 category.
The extreme demands made in the WEC perfectly fit the qualities Schaeffler defines for its production technologies as well. There is hardly a tougher test laboratory for developing and proving future hybrid systems. In the 2015 WEC season, all of the Porsche 919 Hybrid cars fielded covered more than 31,000 race kilometers, producing about 6,200 kilowatt hours of electric power in the process – enough energy to supply an average German 2-person household for 640 days.
The double triumph in the LMP1 class closes a perfect season for Porsche and Schaeffler. But as one season ends, another one is on the horizon. The title defense project is already in full swing. Next year’s round one will be held in 146 days from now. On April 17, 2016, the WEC will be opening the season at Silverstone.
